Shivaji: A Perspective

This is not just another retelling of Shivaji’s story.

It is an attempt to look again — from another perspective.

A perspective that brings into view those who stood around the making of a legend. Because while it is often said that the keystone holds the arch, the arch too must exist for the keystone to hold. No legend is made alone.

This play is as much about Shivaji as it is about the many others who helped shape him — his mother, his wife, his brothers-in-arms, and the many people who lived at the fringes of society, yet played a profound role in making Shivaji what he became.

In that sense, this is not only the story of a hero.

It is also the story of the ecosystem that made the hero possible.

We would love to have you at the show — but not merely as passive spectators. We invite you instead as active co-builders of this journey.

One small way to participate could be:

  • to give us a thoughtful critique after the performance
  • to bring something small to eat and share
  • or even to offer a token contribution of Re. 1

Though, truthfully, we would value the first two even more.

After the performance, we will also share snacks prepared from traditional and wild varieties of rice.

We would be delighted to have you with us.
